Alexander Kurzanov was born in Voronezh in 1938. He studied painting at the Moscow University of Art from 1957-1960. He continued his studies from 1960-1965 at the Ryazan Art School and at the Academy of Art in Tbilisi, Georgia until 1972. Beginning in 1973, he participated in regional, republic, and national exhibitions. He was admitted to the Artists’ Union of the USSR in 1980. His works have been exhibited in the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Spain, and the United States. His paintings are in museums of several Russian cities, including the Kranskoi Art Museum and the Museum of Regional Studies on Voronezh. Many of Kurzanov’s paintings are also in private collections in Russia and abroad.
